Death
Where there is life, there is death. For characters brought into the world of Sanctum, this is also true. While the medical treatment available on Sanctum is pretty high level, there are always situations where death is inevitable, whether from monster attack, accident, or outright murder. So... how do we do death plots?
First, you are going to need to get mod permission. Since death is something that affects everyone around a character, it’s not something to be done lightly. Even more so if it’s a death from conflict between player characters, since such things require legal investigation as well! This isn’t a scary process though! Just drop the mods a line about what you’d like to do, who all is going to be involved, what you want your character to get out of it, and how you want things to progress.
Once the death itself occurs, there are a few different things that can happen to a character. First, they are in no way conscious during the time between death and reappearance in the world. The time that this takes is always at least three in-game days, though it can take longer for plot purposes.
When a person comes back from death, they’re not exactly the same as before they left. Whether it’s the loss of a power, missing memories, or even a physical disability, there’s always some price to pay. Be sure to think about what you would like your character to give up when you contact us about your plot?
Keep in mind, it’s not just the player characters who can come back from the dead. The world of Sanctum is a strange and mysterious place, and what natural forces are behind this strange reappearance in the world that happens even while the original body rots doesn’t differentiate between newcomers to the world and those who have lived there for a while. Because of this, it’s local tradition in Sanctum not to mourn until a week or two has passed, no matter how a person dies.
